You're Invited: Award-Winning Author Speaking April 23

Marcus Sedgwick, winner of the 2014 Michael L. Printz Award for Excellence in Young Adult Literature for his novel, Midwinter Blood, will speak at Foxcroft on Wednesday, April 23 at 12:45pm in the Audrey Bruce Currier Library. The public is invited to the presentation, after which the popular author will sign books.

Foxcroft students will have an additional treat as Sedgwick has lunch with members of Next Chapter, our student book group, and visits classes. Many thanks to Steve Matthews, our librarian extraordinaire, who served on the 2014 Printz Award Committee and arranged the visit with MacMillian Publishing Company.
Born and raised in Britain, Sedgwick's YA books have been much praised; his first title for adults, A Love Like Bloodwas released in March, and his latest YA title, She is Not Invisible, is being released in the U.S. this month. Midwinter Blood is described as "Seven stories of passion and love separated by centuries but mysteriously intertwined -- this is a tale of horror and beauty, tenderness and sacrifice."

"This is quite a coup for us," says Steve. "The girls are very excited to have a real author, and one that many of them have read."
